The Yellow Brick House Nursery Story
“Once upon a time ……….” The Yellow Brick House nursery was established in 1989 by a small group of teachers for their own children. The nursery’s strong beliefs and values in Early Years Education were shared by many of the parents who enrolled their children and went on to join the staff team. This laid the foundation for Yellow Brick House Nurseries to grow from strength to strength.
In 2010, having consistently been assessed by Ofsted as providing ‘Outstanding care and education for young children’, the nursery successfully bid for a government grant to expand 3 of the nurseries to provide fulltime day care for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. This enabled us to refurbish and extend our premises and offer home cooked food on site with our own cook (see our food and menu section).
We recognise that it is the expertise and commitment of the staff that helps us achieve the best outcomes for every child in partnership with their parents/carers. This process starts with a home visit to help us to get to know you and your child’s needs, strengths and interests (see Settling into the Nursery).
Our staff are led by graduate leaders. Our Key Persons are qualified, experienced early years practitioners who attend regular in house and external training to develop their skills and knowledge and to keep updated with the latest research and government legislation. We see ourselves as an educational community who are committed to nurturing lifelong learning for both adults and children.
